Doors to health

HAMPTON Park residents will have access to more medical services from the First Health Medical Centre thanks to a Federal Government grant.
Federal Holt MP Anthony Byrne announced the centre will receive $500,000 under the Primary Care Infrastructure grant program.
The funding will be used for new treatment and training rooms allowing the centre to offer more services to the community. “This is great news in our community, as it will mean patients will soon be able to access reliable, longer after-hours and a wider range of services from local medical centres,” Mr Bryne said.
First Health Medical Centre’s Dr Alan Lim said the funding was welcome and would help the centre to work more closely with allied health workers under the same roof.
“The extension will allow the centre to develop an approach for integrated medical management of patients with chronic and complicated diseases,” he said.
The new treatment and training rooms will enable the centre to provide access to new health professionals such as diabetes educators, chiropractors and exercise physiologists.
First Health Medical Centre also received a $100,000 grant from the General Practice After-Hours Grants Program to assist with after-hours operating costs.
