DI WYATT believes photography comes down to how people see things.
The passionate member of the Berwick Viewfinders Camera Club will see this adage in practice when the group holds its inaugural photographic expo at the Old Cheese Factory this month.
The exhibition will allow local photographers to showcase their talented work, much of it taken within Berwick and the surrounding suburbs.
“We want to promote Berwick as great place to take photos, we want photographers to have an opportunity to show their work,” Ms Wyatt said.
“We know a lot of people have images on their computers fading away, and it’s also about promoting the club and attracting new members.”
The expo, held from 25 July to 27 July, will also include three competitions – an open competition for the public, a competition strictly for high school students and a third for kids from Berwick Fields Primary School, where the Viewfinders club holds its meetings.
Workshops will also be run throughout the weekend as well as several presentations covering everything from bird photography to capturing landscapes and families through the lens.
“We would like to make it an annual event but we’ll see, it’s taken so much effort in its first year but once you’ve done one, I don’t think the next one’s so daunting,” Ms Wyatt said.
“I’ve been in the club for about six years; it’s been an interest of mine for a long time.
“We’re very social, there are lots of people who share the same interests, and we’re a very family orientated club with junior members and then members over 80.
“I love the artistic side, too, I’m a creative type person, I like to see what I can do with an image that might be different from what people see.
“I think photography is how you see things.”
The Berwick Photo Expo will be held at the Old Cheese Factory from Friday 25 to Sunday 26 July.
