ANOTHER year has passed for the Casey Multi-Faith Network, but with it has come new achievements.
Last Thursday the group reflected on the last 12 months at its annual general meeting, while also looking forward to three big events which will cap off the network’s year.
“It went really well, over the journey we’ve lost a couple of people and gained some new ones,” secretary Naureen Choudhry said, speaking after the AGM.
“The meeting went smoothly and we’re really looking forward to starting the new year with gusto.
“Jim Reiher gave his president’s report and highlighted the main events of the year which included tours to places of worship, with an average of 35 people attending them.
“And the White Ribbon Day in November last year was a great success, attended by 8 or 10 different faith groups.
“That’s the objective of Multifaith, to bring groups of faith together. When one faith group is in need or is going through a hard time, then other ones can support them.”
On the horizon for the next year is the group’s annual gathering, separate to the AGM, and another White Ribbon event.
Naureen also said the group had planned a bunch of additional tours of worship, following on the success of this year.
“The word is spreading, membership is growing every year,” she said.
“We almost have 100 members who have signed up, and we’re also looking forward to creating our own website and introductory video.
“The next big thing is the annual gathering, a presentation of different faith groups, of what they would like to showcase in terms of their culture or their faith.”
The Casey Multi-faith Network, which began in 2006, is a collaborative representation of various religions and faiths committed to working toward the promotion of peace.
