Country music for charity

COUNTRY music in Casey is certainly something to celebrate.
This Friday 19 December the City of Casey is inviting residents to the Mayoral Charity Concert in order to help 20-year-old Sonyta Trahar make her way to the Country Music Academy in Tamworth in January.
Sonyta, from Hampton Park, is a singer and songwriter who first appeared at the Mayoral Charity Concert when she was eight years old.
In order to assist Sonyta get to Tamworth, councillor Wayne Smith, a long-time supporter of Sonyta’s musical aspirations, successfully moved that a Mayoral Charity Concert be held this Friday, from 7pm, at the Cranbourne Community Theatre, Brunt Street, Cranbourne.
A great line-up of local Casey performers will also appear to support Sonyta’s campaign, including Cathy Dobson, Chris Newman, Nia Robertson, Journey Bound and Tara Dowler.
Also appearing will be Jay Bruce, who was allocated a similar Mayoral Charity Concert when she was accepted into the same Country Music Academy several years ago.
