AFTER working with Bent Architects in Brunswick for six months, Berwick Fields Primary School got the green light for a new eco cubby multi-learning space to be built.
Some $100,000 in State Government funding will go towards the school upgrade and Berwick Fields Primary School Principal Stephen Wigney hopes to see it built next year.
“Representatives from each grade helped design the cubby with the architects who visited once a month and students got to learn about sustainability within the structure itself and how to build with recycled materials,” he said.
Mr Wigney said the multi-purpose space could be used for hands-on activities, such as engineering and woodwork.
“It will be great to see all their ideas and learning transformed into something they can use on a day to day basis,” he said.
The floor plan for the eco cubby is still under construction, but mock-up plans have been put together giving the students an idea of what it might look like.
