SOME of Victoria’s cricket greats will be smacking balls out of Casey Fields this festive season.
The Melbourne Stars will be rolling into town for the annual ‘Casey Family Fun Day’ on Sunday 13 December.
Locals will be able to rub shoulders with men’s captain David Hussey and team mates James Faulkner and Glenn Maxwell along with the women’s team captain Meg Lanning and Kristen Beams.
The free carnival event will include rides, entertainment and elite sporting matches.
Melbourne Stars CEO Clint Cooper said the day was an exciting part of the Stars pre-season preparation.
“We get such a warm reception from our fans in Casey and it gets us fired up for the start of the season,” Mr Cooper said.
“It’s great to bring professional sport and some of cricket’s most colourful personalities to the Casey community especially when we get to visit and play on the terrific surface at Casey Fields.”
Participants on the day can expect meet and greets with the cricketers and signed autographs as well as the chance to watch the men’s and women’s team play a full-scale practice match.
The Victorian Indigenous Team will roll the arm over in a friendly encounter against Victoria Police from 8am.
