Hills crash kills two and leaves another critical

A NARRE Warren man and an Endeavour Hills boy have died at the scene of a two-car crash in Kallista.
An 18-year-old Narre Warren North man in the same car was airlifted to The Alfred hospital with critical head injuries.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen their black Honda sedan in the minutes before the crash to come forward.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 62-year-old man from Silvan, was uninjured.
The men in the Honda were travelling from Kallista towards Belgrave on Monbulk Road near Grant’s Picnic Ground when their car spun sideways and left the driver’s side of the car facing coming traffic about 8.10pm on Tuesday 24 May.
Their car then collided with a four-wheel-drive travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Honda, a 19-year-old male from Narre Warren, and the back seat passenger, a 17-year-old male from Endeavour Hills, both died at the scene.
Sergeant Andrew Herdman from Olinda police said it was a high-intensity crash.
“The driver of the Honda was ejected from vehicle and the rear seat passenger and front passenger remained in the car with belts on as it rolled down the embankment,” he said.
The front seat passenger of the Honda, an 18-year-old male from Narre Warren North, was critically injured and was taken to The Alfred hospital.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Major Collision Investigation Unit which will prepare a report for the coroner.
Sgt Herdman is also urging people who may have seen the black Honda coupe in the area before 8pm that night to call Olinda Police Station on 9751 1241.
The state’s road toll now stands at 121, which is 17 more than this time last year.
