The Berwick CWA may have closed down, but its big-hearted members have not entirely disbanded.
After running a craft street-stall, the women raised $570 for a charity that supports families and individuals in need.
Four of the craftswomen – Doreen Robertson, Mary McGrath, Helen Visscher and Judy Sunderland – presented the cheque to Casey North Community Information and Support Service (CISS) on 13 October.
Meeting in a house each fortnight, about 10 members hand-make quilts, Christmas crafts, beanies, gloves, hand-towels and aprons to help CISS and Casey Hospital.
“We decided to keep meeting when we gave up the CWA,” Ms McGrath said.
“We just picked two things that we could support.”
Last Christmas, they donated money as well as Christmas cakes, mince tarts and puddings to help CISS send out 300 hampers.
The ladies also routinely make trauma dolls and hats for premmie babies for Casey Hospital.
