Student leader Kiarah, of Hillsmeade Primary School, has made her mark by thinking of others.
Kiarah was earmarked as a potential community leader by winning a Community Spirit and Leadership award.
It’s an award recognising Year 4 students at schools in the Narre Warren South electorate.
The award was created and presented by Narre Warren South MP Judith Couacaud Graley, who noted Kiarah “stepped up as not only a leader, but also as a friend for so many of her peers”.
“It is clear that she has made a very big difference in their lives as she was engulfed in a big group hug with her class after receiving her award.
“I can’t wait to see how Kiarah’s journey unfolds.
“I have no doubt that she will continue to excel and lead by example.”
Kiarah is a member of the school’s Student Representative Council and a dedicated hip-hop dancer.
In their submissions, teachers noted Kiarah was humble, open to feedback, and quick to help others stuck in their learning and feeling upset.
“Kiarah is considerate of the effect of actions on those around her and on how our collective choices might affect the wider community,” a teacher wrote.
