National day full of fun

AUSTRALIA Day is set to be jam-packed this Saturday with several fun, free, family friendly activities being held across the municipality to celebrate the national day.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said Australia Day would be a great time to catch up with family and friends and celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian.
“Australia Day is a national day of celebration and is a special time to celebrate our origins and achievements,” she said.
“It’s also a great opportunity for us to re-commit our efforts to make Australia an even better place in the future.”
One of the activities on offer on Australia Day is a free showerhead swap over being held at Pioneers Park in Berwick and at Actively Diverse celebrations at Doveton’s Betula Reserve.
“As part of our commitment to make Australia an even better place, I encourage residents to swap their old showerheads and get brand new, water-efficient ones for free.
“As everyone would be aware, our nation is experiencing a severe drought and we must all make an effort to conserve one of our most precious resources,” Cr Halsall said.
“Our Casey Youth Ambassadors will be on-hand in Berwick and Doveton between 11am to 3pm to undertake a showerhead swap over.
“Their aim is to swap around 1000 showerheads, so residents can play their part in making a difference to our water supplies and our future.”
Residents can participate in the showerhead exchange by bringing in their old showerheads and South East Water account to Pioneers Park in Berwick or Betula Reserve in Doveton on Australia Day, Saturday 26 January.
