Honour wall acclaimed

LOCAL identities and heroes are to be honoured amid plans to build two Walls of Acclaim in Casey.
The walls would most likely be located at the Narre Warren Civic Precinct and the Casey Fields sports complex in Cranbourne East.
The walls would celebrate the achievements of local residents, both living and deceased.
The Narre Warren wall would honour historical community identities and heroes and the Casey Fields facility would pay tribute to local sports identities and heroes.
Councillor Lorraine Wreford, who first brought the idea forward, said the Walls of Acclaim would be ideal for the City of Casey and allow people to be honoured while they were still alive.
Councillor Mick Morland said the honour walls would create a part of history and give residents something to aspire to, as well as being a way to look back at the past.
“It is an absolutely fantastic idea and acknowledges the people who need to be acknowledged,” Cr Morland said.
Council officers would now form a report for council on concepts and designs for both sites, with site specific locations and costs associated with the design.
