Keep going, says council

CASEY Council will lobby the State Government to extend the recently announced bus service to Casey Hospital to other parts of the municipality.
At last week’s council meeting, councillor Lorraine Wreford said Casey was fortunate to get the new service.
“But I am concerned that the bus is only going from Berwick to Berwick,” Cr Wreford said.
“We need to link it to other areas such as Cranbourne and Hampton Park.”
Route 836 runs from The Chase Estate in Berwick to Beaconsfield Station, Berwick Shopping Centre and Berwick Station and now on to Casey Hospital.
“This is only the tip of the iceberg,” Cr Wreford said. “Let’s get Cranbourne linked up to Casey Hospital as well.”
Mayor Kevin Bradford said while it was possible to change public transport services at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre and Berwick Station, the point of the bus service was to establish a more direct service.
Council officers will now write a letter to thank the Minister for Transport on the commitment on the bus route and also to request that the Government consider buses from other areas in Casey to the hospital.
