A double for Doves

DOVETON seniors got a double chance and booked a qualifying final place against Narre Warren with a 73-point win against Tooradin on Saturday.

The second quarter saw the Doves use the wind to their advantage and edge back in front and take an 11-point lead into the main break.
In the second half, the Doves played some freakish football kicking 10 goals in the third quarter and eight in the fourth.
Ryan Hendy continued his form from last week with another bag of five goals and defender-turned-forward Peter Greenstreet kicked four.
On-baller Justin Hill dominated the stoppages and proved dangerous when resting up forward, he also finished with four goals.

Like the seniors, the young Doves consolidated the double-chance with a massive 146 point win against Tooradin.
The Doves started well, but were not convincing kicking with a strong wind.
The second quarter saw the Doves try a new game plan, but their play still lacked enthusiasm even though they held a 73-point lead at half-time.
In the second half, the Doves showed more run and commitment kicking 13 goals for the half that included seven goals into the breeze.
Matt Stocco showed his versatility this week playing in the midfield and giving the forwards excellent delivery with his superb skill.
Ryan Pearson was the same story this week pushing up forward and kicking five goals while key forwards Daniel Zajac and Cam Bell both kicked three.
Scores: Doveton 23.17.155 d Tooradin 1.3.9.
