Cheating

Completing a university degree can become quite stressful for even the best of students. When things get tough, a lot of students turn to the internet to solve their problems as there are many websites available online that offer pre-made essays for a small fee.
For a little extra, some sites will even write a custom essay for your specific individual topic if there are no pre-written essays available.
Until now, it was up to teachers to determine whether they thought the students’ work was authentic or not, although there was no sure way to confirm whether the work was original or stolen.
However, universities are now how on the trail of these cheating students.
A handful of universities across Australia and the rest of the world have begun to subscribe to a new service that will allow them to submit all students’ work to be cross examined and have the content checked for duplicates online.
If the content of an essay that has been submitted is found to be the same as that of an essay available online, that would indicate the work submitted by the student is not their own, resulting in an instant fail.
Not only will the software scan for duplicates online but it will also do cross examinations with other students’ work, not only from the same campus, but of other campuses as well, to ensure students aren’t simply copying their work from each other.
As the current system stands, it is quite possible for many stolen submissions to slip through the radar undetected but as the software is further developed, it will become much more difficult to beat the system and cheaters will be caught.
