Cranny mauled by Mulgrave

CRANBOURNE Bowls Club’s number-one team, missing several top players, could not match a determined Mulgrave Country Club on the home green and were easily beaten by 44 shots.
Cranbourne was competitive early, but fell behind on three rinks to lose touch with the opposition.
The only winning rink was the team skipped by Peter Elgar that bowled well to win by 10 shots.

Cranbourne (2) was at home to Glen Waverley in an important match and all rinks bowled superbly to win overall by 26 shots.
Big winners were the rinks of Ray Travica and Stan Burnett, both with 10-shot margins. Cranbourne took maximum points from the match and will climb the ladder.

Cranbourne (3) suffered some late changes to its side, but was still too strong for Dandenong Club and won overall by 50 shots.
Cranbourne won three rinks and remain top position on the ladder. Big winners were the teams of Ken McLeod, Andrew Brock and Dick St Ruth.
Dick St Ruth’s team won the club award with a 24-shot win, despite the skip showing bias to the opposition on three occasions.

Cranbourne (4) found the Ferntree Gully side at home too hot to match and was beaten overall by 29 shots. Cranbourne tied on the rink of John MacInnes and lost the other three rinks.

Cranbourne (5) continued its good form at home to defeat Ferntree Gully by 47 shots overall, winning three rinks and a tie in the fourth. Big winners were the rinks of Keith Davies and Bill Plumbe with respective margins of 19 and 17 shots.

Cranbourne (6) was no match for a Hampton Park side keen to win. Cranbourne was beaten on three rinks with the rink of John Potts the only winners.

Other results – The quarter finals of the club championship have been completed with the semi-finals to be played between Lynn Quigg v Stan Burnett and Brian Gay v Ian Barrenger.
All ladies bowls were washed out on 6 December.
