Gee Wiz, curtain to rise

THE curtain is set to rise on Lyndhurst Secondary College’s production of The Wiz.
The Wiz is a modern version of The Wizard of Oz and became well known after the release of a movie by the same name starring Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones and Richard Pryor.
The show’s cast and crew number more than 100 and involve students from years seven through to 12.
The production has been in rehearsal since term one and students recently attended an intensive overnight camp dedicated to learning lines and dance steps. Staff and students have been making the most of the recently refurbished drama room, which now seats 170 comfortably and includes tiered seating, curtains and professional lighting.
The Wiz runs from Wednesday 10 August to Saturday 13 August in the Lyndhurst Secondary College drama room. The show starts at 7pm and tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for secondary school students and $5 for primary school children.
