DEBATE continues to rage around the handling of a WorkCover claim from a senior Casey Council officer.
An unsuccessful attempt was made at Tuesday night’s council meeting to thwart a recent motion regarding former Casey community services director Jennie Lee’s resignation.
Casey councillors Rob Wilson and Michael Farley moved the recision motion, which was lost, in an attempt to clarify issues surrounding an investigation into Ms Lee’s claim. The original motion, an in camera item, was first heard on 4 March.
Casey Council will continue with its appointment of an independent investigator to look at alleged bullying of Ms Lee by Cr Kevin Bradford. It will also request the Local Government Minister to appoint an inspector to investigate a breach of confidentiality surrounding Ms Lee’s claim.
Other matters to be investigated include issues surrounding a complaint lodged against Ms Lee by a Casey worker and whether Cr Bradford had been afforded natural justice in the WorkCover claim.
Council moved a motion asking the independent investigation to also look at the alleged heavy workload of Ms Lee.
