CASEY’s environment and heritage conservation groups can apply for three-year Federal Government grants.
Local organisations would be considered for grants of up to $10,000 per year for three years.
Flinders MP Greg Hunt said the funding would be a terrific boost to the many local volunteer groups working to protect the environment.
“The program is unique because it not only recognises the important role of volunteer organisations in protecting our land, animals and historic places but it also provides practical funding for administrative costs,” Mr Hunt said.
“It is these day-to-day running costs that volunteer organisations often struggle with.
“This program eases the burden of administrative costs for volunteer groups, and can also be used to help with capital costs, such as computers, video cameras and specialised equipment.”
Organisations are assessed on their track record and potential to deliver on-ground environment projects or contribute to the protection of Australia’s heritage.
Guidelines and application forms for the program are available at www.deh.gov.au/programs/gveho or by phoning (02) 6274 2422.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, 2 February.
