Good start for Cranbourne

CRANBOURNE’S Turf One cricketers got off to a good start against Buckley Ridges thanks to openers Steve Hall (24) and Jason Hameeteman (22).
In his second game in the firsts, Dean McDonnell showed great promise, making 30 and spending some valuable time at the crease.
Danny Diwell made a hard-hitting 48 to top score for Cranbourne. Matthew Moore continued his good form with 24.
Score: Cranbourne 193 v Buckley Ridges 0/3.

After losing an early wicket, Cranbourne put on 69 runs for the second wicket thanks to Dan Hunt (29) and Brad Stephens (36). From there it was a struggle, with only Aaron Morrison (44) making an impact.

Playing on the new all-season wickets which can reduce batting to a lottery, Cranbourne took full advantage with Jesse Fitzgerald taking 4/23.
Dan Baker cleaned up the tail with 5/4 off five overs.
Cranbourne stumbled to 6/33 before Ryan Jones (43) smashed the ball to all parts of the ground. Justin Hinkley made 41off 20 balls while Fitzgerald was made 27 not out.

Cranbourne batted first and was never troubled. Opener Glen Dickinson followed his previous century with 77.
The dismissal of captain Chris George (55) brought more pain for the bowlers with Chris Lamb top-scored with 88. Tony Ciantar (50 not out) and Ronald Braham (40 not out) came in with 12 overs to go and put on 90.

Cranbourne got off to a shaky start until experienced campaigner Steve Redgen made 26.
In a match-saving dig David Pratt made 56 before being the last out.
In his first game, Jack Courtney (11) put on 37 runs with Pratt for the seventh wicket.
In reply, Dale Walker took a wicket with the third ball, but couldn’t get another breakthrough.

Silvio Marinelli made 23 while Ash Oats in his first game for the year smashed 42.
Stephen Krings nudged the singles on his way to 35.
Cranbourne kept the pressure on in attack with Oats and Richard Young each taking 3/16.
Andrew Toan and Mark Woodall contributed with two wickets each.
