THE girls at Sterling Calisthenics are a very talented group.
In only their second year of competing the youngsters have come away from the recent Calisthenics Victoria Inc (CVI) competition with some astounding results.
The girls finished first overall in the sub junior category for eight and nine-year-olds and also won the junior category for 10, 11 and 12-year-olds.
Sterling coach Ginny Gaskel said the result was a fantastic effort,
“The CVI comp is effectively the state championships so to win in only our second year is a fantastic effort,” she said.
“We were thrilled, we are very proud of all our girls.”
Calisthenics is a team activity that combines elements of sport and art, most routines involve a mixture of acting, ballet, dance, gymnastics and singing.
Ms Gaskel said the club was always on the lookout for new members.
“Calisthenics is a fantastic sport to become involved in, it’s great for physical development but also great socially as well. The kids have a great time and so many of them have made friends out of it,” she said.
A sterling dance effort
