KEVIN Hill’s Top Ten Australian Artists art show has proved a hit in the City of Casey after its third consecutive year.
And Casey mayor Colin Butler has invited Mr Hill to bring his artists back next year.
Mr Hill said he was delighted with the response at the event, held on 20 and 21 October at the Casey Civic Centre in Narre Warren.
“We had nearly twice the number of people attending as in the previous two years,” he said. “The big plus is having artists present at the exhibition.”
Mr Hill said artists enjoyed the situation where patrons commented on their work, and this was a real morale booster because they spent most of their time working alone in their studios.
“I believe they excelled themselves at this Casey exhibition because it was the best collection of art I have seen them put together,” Mr Hill said.
“They sold a lot of work.
“Ian Hansen’s painting of the sea battle sold for $28,000.”
Casey chief executive Mike Tyler said at the official opening of the exhibition that it was fantastic to have the Top Ten event in the City of Casey.
Casey mayor Colin Butler officially opened the exhibition and commended guest artist Janet Matthews of Narre Warren North on her achievement.
“This is the second time Janet has been selected as guest artist for Kevin Hill’s Top Ten Australian Artists Art Show.
“She is a prime example of the amazing talent in the City of Casey,” he said.
Mr Hill said he had been associated with people from the City of Casey for many years.
“I have found Casey to be at the forefront in local government in Victoria and an ideal place to hold the Top Ten exhibitions,” he said.
