CASEY families are being urged to lobby the Federal Government to end the delay of its childcare rebate.
Federal Holt MP Anthony Byrne and Narre Warren North State MP Luke Donnellan are looking for the support of Casey parents after the Howard Government last week rejected three options put forward by the Federal Labor Party to allow families to receive the 30 per cent rebate sooner.
Mr Byrne said it will mean families have to wait up to 30 months for the rebate.
“Families having to pay their childcare fees now are not assisted by the possibility of a cheque in two years. This shows the Government is completely out of touch with everyday lives of families in Holt,” he said.
Mr Donnellan said Casey families were being treated like secondclass citizens in being made to wait, and urged young parents to sign up.
“Casey families have been left out of pocket and twiddling their thumbs waiting for several years for their rebate,” he said.
