
GOOD fortune has come in threes for staff at the Casey Aquatic and Recreation Centre.
Three staff members collected awards recently at the Victorian Aquatic Industry Awards Dinner.
The awards ceremony officially recognised the achievement and contribution of the people, programs and facilities in the aquatics industry.
Casey ARC group fitness coordinator Di Dall’Oglio received the WETS Aqua Exercise Leader of the Year Award.
Janine Wilson, lifeguard team leader, received the Life Saving Victoria Pool Lifeguard of the Year Award.
The book Shelly The Shrimp written by Narre Warren mother of three Kylie Lehman, also an aquatic education teacher at Casey ARC, won the Life Saving Victoria Award for excellence in promotion of water safety.
Ms Dall’Oglio and Janine Wilson, have been members of the Casey ARC staff team since its opening in 2001.
Ms Dall’Oglio has been taking aqua exercise classes for more than 10 years and instructs a variety of aqua classes including special groups such as older adults and people with disabilities.
She has a real passion for aqua exercise.
As part of Water Safety Week, the YMCA launched the book Shelly the Shrimp and her Aqua Safe friends.
The book tells the tale of a young shrimp as she learns to swim safely in the ocean.
Ms Lehman, who teaches aquatic education at Casey ARC, donated the story to the YMCA to enable disadvantaged children to learn water safety through YMCA’s Aqua Safe Aquatic Education Program.
