BOBBY Cash, the first singer to ever release a country music album in his home country of India is set to perform at the Hallam Hotel next month.
The talented singer, who takes influence from music greats Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash and Kenny Rogers, has recently recorded his third album, which was released in Sydney yesterday (Wednesday).
He will perform at the Hallam Hotel on Tuesday, 2 May.
Since Bobby’s first visit to Australia in 2003, he has conducted ten musical tours across the country and this will be his eleventh.
Bobby found himself the subject of a documentary when he first attended the 2003 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
As India’s population had just passed the one billion mark and Bobby was the only man in India making a living playing country music, the short film was named ‘The Indian Cowboy…One in a Billion’.
Bobby returned to Australia in June 2003 and recorded his first country music album – ‘Cowboy at Heart’.
With new-found-Tamworth-friend Lawrie Minson in the producer’s chair, they managed to get some of the cream of the Australian music industry to play on the album – including duets with the legendary Smoky Dawson and Tania Kernaghan.
Earlier this year he returned to the 2006 Tamworth Country Music Festival and last year attended the Country Music Association music festival in Nashville after being nominated for the CMA Global Artist Award.
His latest album, ‘State of my Heart’, is a musical journey that explores his roots of country music.
