THE City of Casey continues to run the biggest family day care scheme of its type in Australia.
More than 2000 local children are being cared for through the city’s Family Day Care scheme.
About 50 of the children recently attended a Family Day Care-specific playgroup, Occupation Day, where the children dressed up in the work gear of their parents, as part of National Families Week
Casey manager of children’s services Colette McMahon said Family Day Care was a great option for parents when choosing childcare.
“Family Day Care provides quality, flexible and affordable childcare in a home environment with only a small number of children being cared for at one time,” she said.
As part of Family Day Care, there are 12 playgroups specifically for Family Day Care children each fortnight.
“Family Day Care playgroups provide a safe, stimulating and challenging environment which maximises learning opportunities for the children.
“The children enjoy different activities and experiences each time, and the program focuses on using natural and recycled materials.”
Ms McMahon said Family Day Care was care with a small number of children.
“The playgroups enable the children to play in a larger group setting, allowing the care providers, with the assistance of council staff, to observe how the children play with different activities,” she said.
All care providers operate under the City of Casey’s service provider agreement and in accordance with national standards.
