Firefighting fundraisers running hot

NARRE Warren CFA members can’t stop helping people.
The crew genuinely assists at house fires, car crashes and any number of other incidents which require their invaluable assistance
But a group of 14 will soon swap their overalls for shorts and take part in the Herald Sun/CityLink Run for the Kids to help raise money for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The Narre Warren CFA group has so far raised the most money of any team entered in the March run and Second Lieutenant Travis Carter wants to keep it that way.
Mr Carter has been thrilled with the community support they have received with $1815 already pledged.
“We will be running 14 kilometres across CityLink with a team of CFA firefighters and we are keen to raise mega bucks for The Royal Children’s Hospital,” he said.
“We have started our target at $5000 and we will see how we go, depending on the support, we would love to raise much more.
“We are keen to get as many donations for the campaign as possible.
“We will need lots of encouragement to go out and get fit for the run, and nothing is more encouraging than seeing our tally go up.”
Mr Carter said all CFA members, not just those involved at Narre Warren, were encouraged to run.
“We are trying to convince Trevor Owen and Cliff O’Conner to run on the team. The CFA operations manager and Casey catchment officer on our team would be a huge boost.”
The 14.4km event, which takes place on Sunday 30 March, takes in various parts of Melbourne including the Domain Tunnel, Bolte Bridge and Spencer Street.
