CRANBOURNE training complex hosted two of the Spring Racing Carnival’s leading players last Friday with Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse and controversial Irish jockey Kieren Fallon making the trip to participate in the day’s trials.
Ms Waterhouse saddled two of her big Flemington hopes, Desert War and Tuesday Joy, in preparation for her assault on the coming Group races over the week-long racing carnival, and she was happy with the work of both horses.
Fallon joined local and interstate riders at the trials, piloting Lee Freedman-trained Gamble Me to victory and Ditas to third place in their trials.
Waterhouse preferred using the versatile Cranbourne facility to the metropolitan training tracks with a view to finetuning her stable stars, and shared the track with local hopes prepared by trainers including Robbie Griffiths and Robbie Laing.
