A BIG fightback on two rinks give Hampton Park Bowls Club a thrilling win over a very determined Mt Waverley side in pennant on Saturday.
It was not until end 20 that Les Unwin, Alan Wilcock, Robert Naismith and skip Graham Slight drew level and then moved ahead to win by eight shots (26-18).
Chas Hose, Fred McBrian, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield came from a long way down to finish with a draw (26-26).
A 10-shot lead held by Andrew Brandolin, Lance Davis, Ken Cobden and skip Geoff Ladner was whittled down to just three shots (22-19).
With the scores level and one end to go, Paul Barna, Ray Wood, David Hendrie and skip Neville Hendrie had to settle for a two-shot loss (19-21).
Division 4 Section 6 Hampton Park 15-93 d Mt Waverley 3-84
Only two rinks were successful in Hampton Park’s away game at Mulgrave CC.
Keith McCarthy, Alan Unwin, Eddie Graafsma and skip Ray Leggett trailed by four to six shots all day (22-28).
After being well down early, Lino Da Pos, Bill Tannahill, Allan March and skip Keith Damon had a big finish to get up by two shots (23-21).
Gerry Cox, Greg Pentland, George Pettitt and skip Rob Woff got the lead early and hung on to it to the end (22-16).
It was a bad day for Basil Pope, Pat Moevasa, Ann Westwell and skip Bob Nicol (8-38).

Dot Carr, Gwen Clough, Shirley Burnside and skip Heather Naismith won 10 of the last 12 ends to win by 18 shots (31-13).
In a close game Mavis Kelly, Ellen Smith, Ann Westwell and skip Chris Hendrie won by one shot on the last end (21-20).
Level on end 19, two threes got Sheila Scothorne, Gail Wilcock, Alma Pope and skip Grace Hogan over the line (24-18).
Joyce Cameron, June Damon, Geri Graafsma and skip Mary Hose opened up a small lead to win by five shots (26-21).
