YEAR 10 students at Eumemmerring College Fountain Gate Campus organised a grade six Health Day on Friday to promote healthy lifestyle choices incorporating a taste of what to expect of high school.
The Health Day involved students from Maramba and Fountain Gate primary schools, as well as Eumemmerring College students.
As part of the The Duke of Edinburgh Award, students were expected to interact with local community organisations and initiatives through advertising, assisting or promoting their positive influence on the community.
Eumemmerring College Fountain Gate community links coordinator Wayne Smith said the aim of the day was to teach young students they have a choice in the way they lived their lives.
“We hope that students will now make more educated decisions when selecting food choices and a sense of confidence when participating in physical activity,” Mr Smith said.
ADVANCE teacher Steven Kehayas congratulated the students for planning the successful day.
“Their hard work and efforts were rewarded, seeing the enjoyment and enthusiasm reflected by the grade six students,” Mr Kehayas said.
