SOUTHERN Cross Primary School students are embarking on a language program with a difference.
The grade three and four students are learning about literacy through exposure to a range of different languages.
Although based on Indonesian, the program involves studying the languages of all the children in the class.
Doctor Andree Rodwell said the students were showing a great deal of pride and enthusiasm while sharing and teaching their own language.
“The children in my class represent 20 different countries, which is quite exciting and all classes have an excellent opportunity for students and teachers to gain a cultural knowledge about each country of origin,” Dr Rodwell said.
The students will also use their real life experiences to form part of the classroom program.
