THE Berwick Leisure Centre has celebrated its 25th birthday.
Last Wednesday, the YMCA-run centre commemorated the occasion with a birthday cake and afternoon of celebrations.
Casey YMCA community liaison officer Marni Williams said the event had been a double celebration.
She said the Manuka Road centre had recently attracted its 300th gymnast – the highest number of program participants the centre had ever had at the one time.
Ms Williams said this feat was also commemorated during last week’s celebrations, as was 21 years of the Berwick Craft Market, which is run by the Berwick Leisure Centre.
More than 60 people turned out to celebrate during the centre’s dance and gymnastic programs.
Ms Williams said the centre had recently introduced a mums and bubs exercise program and in October would begin a prime movers exercise program for those aged over 50.
