A BERWICK woman recovering from life-changing brain surgery has been devastated by the disappearance of her beloved pet dog.
Lisa McEwan has called on the local community to help her find one-year-old Panache.
The 32-year-old returned home late last month to discover her back gate open and the bichon frise gone.
Pamphlet drops, calls to the police and visits to vets and pounds right across Melbourne have failed to track down Ms Mc-Ewan’s sole companion.
The director at La Kosta Childcare in Hampton Park said the disappearance had left her heartbroken, as she lived alone, and relied on her pet dog for companionship.
In April, Ms McEwan was diagnosed with a brain aneurism and underwent surgery that left her bedridden for three months.
During this traumatic time she said she relied on her family for round-the-clock care.
She had only been back at work for a week when Panache disappeared.
She said the loss had added much stress to an already challenging time.
“I just want the community to help her come home. I know somewhere someone is caring for her and they just do not know how to find her owner. I am totally devastated by this. I am heartbroken and cannot stop crying.
“I know she misses me as much as I miss her,” she said.
Ms McEwan said her operation and recovery had been the most painful experience of her life. She still experiences painful headaches but said she was now determined to live life to the full.
“I am so devastated. I have been through so much pain in the past four months. I was just getting back on my feet and then this happened. I don’t know what to do,” she said.
Panache was not wearing a collar or tag at the time of her disappearance.
Anyone with any information about her whereabouts can contact the Star News Group office on 5945 0666.
