CRANBOURNE Christian College students demonstrated the many facets of the arts last week when they put on a special Festival of the Arts day.
Musical performances, visual arts, circus acts, drama, gymnastics and poetic readings were all on show for other students and parents to view last Thursday.
Jeffrey Lyons, Cranbourne Christian College music director, said the first ever arts day at the school had been a “rousing success”.
“It was great to open the school’s doors so relatives could share the day with their kids,” he said.
Mr Lyons said it was a great way of both promoting the arts and giving other children at the school an insight into the different ways they can express themselves.
“The event let the children know what their peers were doing but it also gave them a creative goal to help them find their own voice,” Mr Lyons said.
He said there were eight venues open and all the school’s students rotated between the venues throughout the day.
He said it was important that the students were given the option to take up one of the arts.
“It can be a way of getting rid of your frustrations and nurturing your soul,” Mr Lyons said.
“It is also something they can enjoy for a lifetime.”
The day ended with an evening music concert featuring chorus, percussion, bands and soloists.
