THE fundraising efforts of a Berwick opportunity shop have been recognised after they raised $8000 for a local palliative care service.
Last Thursday, representative from South East Palliative Care (SEPC) visited the Berwick Opportunity Shop (BOS) on Clyde Road to thank the many ladies who continued to support the Cranbourne based facility.
Warren Duncan, community development manager of SEPC, said the op shop was one of the biggest supporters of the Cranbourne centre.
“Adriana and her great team raise funds for a huge range of organisations such as SEPC, through recycling pre-loved clothing, books and accessories,” Mr Duncan said.
Mr Duncan said the op shop volunteers were just as inspiring as their Auxiliary members and the 50 or so volunteers that helped the SEPC.
“In a way they are our volunteers as well. Thanks to the support of the Berwick Opportunity Shop and others, SEPC’s team of nurses and welfare staff are able to provide medical supplies used in the home for patients,” he said.
South East Palliative Care (SEPC) does not charge for any of its services, which are focused on assisting those facing life limiting illness and their families.
The not-for-profit organisation is the major provider of specialist community palliative care services in the south east of Melbourne.
