THOMAS Mitchell Primary School students are in good hands.
Their teachers last week received recognition for their excellence in on-the-job training and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff at the Endeavour Hills school have been praised for meeting five key elements as part of the State Government’s Performance and Development Culture initiative.
Assistant Principal Kerry Griffin said the school was delighted with the results and had celebrated the achievement.
“The staff have worked extremely hard for the past 18 months to get this,” Ms Griffin said.
“It has been a wonderful process to go through and the teachers should be congratulated.”
The 42 teachers completed various surveys and worked with the school as a whole to implement several different programs.
Induction strategies for new teachers, feedback to individual teachers on their effectiveness and customised plans for teachers’ professional learning and quality development were just a few of those implemented.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan congratulated the school and highlighted the continued quality development of the staff.
“This school strives for excellence and has established a culture of continuous improvement giving their teachers the very best professional development opportunities and support, which in turn benefits students,” Mr Donnellan said.
Ms Griffin said major winners from the program would be the 630 students who are enrolled at the school.
“It will really help both the teachers and the students in their ongoing learning and development,” she said.
