EIGHT local schools came together last week to shoot hoops for a cause.
Last Thursday, Narre Warren South P-12 hosted a charity basketball event in Cranbourne to raise funds for Tyler Fishlock, a young boy blinded by cancer.
The event followed a successful football day earlier this month, when Narre Warren South P-12 school raised $1000 for the three-year-old’s education trust fund.
Senior sub-school coordinator Rob Duncan said last Thursday’s event had also raised another $1000 and Tyler’s mother Georgette Fishlock would now visit the school next month to express her gratitude.
Berwick Secondary College was named the winner of the basketball tournament and awarded the Tyler Fishlock-AND1 Trophy at the Sport for All Indoor Sports Stadium in Cranbourne.
Teams from Narre South P-12 College, Kambrya College, Mount Erin Secondary College in Frankston, Cleeland Secondary College, Elizabeth Murdoch College in Langwarrin, Cranbourne Secondary College and Berwick Secondary College took to the courts for the round robin event.
“The kids were just stoked with how much we raised,” Mr Duncan said.
“It came together and was fantastic. Every kid that played understood who they were playing for.”
