EMERGENCY services are vital organisations in the community and the City of Casey is doing its bit to help recruit volunteers.
Casey will host its first Emergency Services Volunteer Recruitment Expo next month and local residents are invited to come along and find out more about how they can support and join local emergency services groups.
Casey mayor Colin Butler said the expo was a great way to learn more about how residents could help the community in emergency situations both on the ground and behind the scenes.
“There will be a number of information stalls as well as guest speakers and representatives from each of the emergency services organisations will be on hand to answer any questions,” Cr Butler said.
“As one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia, the current recruitment rate within these vital community services in Casey is not keeping pace with the population growth so I really encourage the community to come along and find out how they can help out.”
The Emergency Services Volunteer Recruitment Expo will be held on Wednesday, 10 October, at 6.30pm in the Council Chamber, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
