THE Casey Cardinia Relay For Life 2009 has been officially launched.
Past, present and future team members met at Shanikas restaurant in Berwick on Monday to celebrate the event.
The annual fundraiser raises money for the Cancer Council of Victoria, and organisers expect the total money raised by Casey and Cardinia to reach the half million mark next year.
Next year’s relay will be the sixth held in Casey and Cardinia, and it looks to be one of the biggest, with 19 teams already registered and out fundraising.
The 2009 Casey Cardinia Relay For Life will be held on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March 2009 at Akoonah Park in Berwick.
The event is a 24 hour walk or run, where teams of 10 or more people, take up the challenge to keep their team’s baton moving.
All funds raised enable the Cancer Council to continue its cancer research and provide cancer education programs and support services across Victoria.
Registration is $15 and includes a Relay For Life branded sun smart poloshirt, handbook and fundraising materials.
To register a team, phone the Relay For Life hotline on 1300 65 65 85 or visit www.relayforlife.org.au.
