MORE than 200 environmentally friendly parents attended the first Casey Cloth Nappy Expo to learn the benefits of using cloth nappies on their bubs’ bottoms.
The event promoted modern cloth nappies made from materials such as cotton, bamboo, and hemp, in many colours.
Keen attendees were invited to take part in the nappy making workshop while their children participated in free art activities or played with sustainable toys such as dress-ups and home-made building blocks.
City of Casey Acting Manager Engineering and Environment Eric van Toor said he was pleased with the success of the expo.
“It was a wonderful opportunity for families to find out more about the advantages of reusable cloth nappies, including the benefits to the environment, their babies, and the household budget.”
To encourage the use of cloth nappies, the City of Casey is conducting a cloth nappy rebate draw to encourage parents to use cloth nappies rather than disposables. Families who purchase a set of cloth nappies can enter the draw to have half the cost, up to $300, refunded.
