COMMUNITY groups are joining forces to bring back the biggest event in Narre Warren South for the fourth consecutive year on 6 December.
“Every year we assemble with community groups; that’s one of our strengths,” said Julie Kelly, pastor of Oasis Church in Narre Warren South and co-founder of the area’s Carols by Candlelight.
“Between 2500 and 3000 attended last year. This year we are partnering with more community groups to make it an even bigger event.”
This year, Carols by Candlelight will be sponsored and supported by pastor Kelly, her husband, who is also a pastor at the church and co-founder of the carols, the City of Casey, Lions club, Oak Grove Community Centre, Scouts, Girl Guides, Contour Gym, FoodWorks, the Bendigo Bank in Narre Warren South, local schools, and many other local businesses.
“They will help provide free entertainment and a fireworks display, ” pastor Kelly said. “The Fire Brigade is also supporting the event by bringing Santa to the carols on the fire truck.”
The event will begin at 5.30pm at Narre Warren South P-12 College Grounds, with $2 rides, an animal farm, show bags, food, young performers, and a Roving Clown balloonist.
Carols will be sung from 8pm, with a guest appearance from rising star Jessica Jade Bruce.
Kelly said all families, and pets, were invited, but pets must be in a safe place during the fireworks display.
“I think it’s an event that all ages can come and enjoy – grandparents to children. It’s a great way to start the Christmas season.”
