ACADEMY Award-winning animator, and former Casey resident, Adam Elliot spoke about obstacles and achievements at the Casey Arts Gathering on 24 November.
More than 130 people attended the annual event, including representatives from Casey’s art community groups, individual artists, and arts workers from all fields.
City of Casey Manager Arts and Leisure Robyn Bowen said the event was a success with Adam Elliot keeping the crowd thoroughly entertained.
“Adam shared an inspiring presentation about obstacles he had to overcome to achieve success, the funding limitations, long hours and, of course, winning the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2003,” she said.
“He also spoke about the time he spent in Casey as a teenager growing up, and his involvement with the Akoonah Park Market, where he used to sell hand-made cards.”
Mr Elliot’s films ‘Uncle’, ‘Cousin’, ‘Brother’ and ‘Harvie Krumpet’ have participated in an excess of 400 film festivals and have won more than 100 awards. ‘Harvie Krumpet’ won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2003.
After the presentation, Adam Elliot mingled with guests and presented the door prize winner with a signed DVD of Harvie Krumpet.
