CRANBOURNE Bowling Club pulled off a magnificent one-shot victory at Lilydale.
Cranbourne knew a loss would leave it outside the four, but the win pushed it ahead of Lilydale and entrenched them in the four.
Cranbourne controlled the match from the outset until late in the game when Lilydale mounted a challenge to draw three shots ahead with two ends to play.
David Grace’s rink produced a great result to gain three shots, then Peter Elgar’s rink was the toast of the club when it took the one shot needed for victory on the final shot.

Cranbourne (2) hosted top-of-the-ladder Coatesville, but succumbed by 11 shots.
Coatesville held a four-shot lead at the break and Cranbourne then made a charge, but couldn’t maintain the effort.

Cranbourne (3) suffered a disappointing 6.25-shot defeat at Moorabbin after being penalised the losing margin because of an incomplete rink.
Cranbourne won only one rink – that of Wally Ballard by nine shots, and sits fourth.

Cranbourne (4) consolidated its position in the four with a convincing 17-shot win over top side Hampton Park.
Cranbourne had big winners on two rinks, those of George Ljepojevic and Matt Boltong, which ensured victory.

Cranbourne (5) bounced back from last week’s loss to outbowl Burden Park by 26 shots.
Cranbourne won three rinks and lost the fourth by one shot in a consistent display.
Skip John MacInnes and his team were back in form with an 11-shot triumph.

Cranbourne (6) continued its winning run with a 33-shot success over Armadale.
Skip Jim Hanks was in ominous form in a 30-shot victory and skip Theo Van Schalm scored a 17-shot margin.

Cranbourne (1) won all rinks to record a 25-shot win over Berwick in Ladies’ Pennant.
Kath Dudink’s and Lyn Whalley’s rinks were the big winners.

Cranbourne (2) lost all four rinks against a strong Chelsea side and was beaten by 27 shots.
Maggie Taylor provided good opposition with her team to drop her match by one shot, while Erika Woodman’s rink played well to post a three-shot win.

Cranbourne (3) defeated Dandenong RSL/Recreation by 18 shots at home.
Chris Rose and his team won the drinks again with a 23-shot triumph, while Beryl Hassett and Olive Stanley were good winners.

Cranbourne visited Berwick, but couldn’t overcome the local side in Ladies’ Saturday Pennant, losing by two shots.
Mary-Anne Allen and her team were the only winners with a four-shot margin.
Scores: Berwick 47 d Cranbourne 45. M. Allen 24-20; P. Boltong 21-27.
Meanwhile, youngster Jamie Imeson has won his way into his first club championship men’s final with a four-shot triumph over former winner Ian Barrenger.
Imeson held a commanding lead throughout the match with excellent draw bowling before faltering to give up the lead and then finished strongly to win.
Neil Fell will play Peter Elgar in the other semi-final.
Pauline Summerhayes will meet Sandra Wilde in the women’s final at 10am on Friday.
