FIVE ABC Learning Centres in the City of Casey will shut their doors for the final time on 31 December.
In November, McGrathNicol revealed that 12 of the 24 ABC Centres in the City of Casey were on a list titled ‘subject to further operational review’.
Last week, the receivers of the childcare giant said ABC Learning Centres on Ridgemont Drive in Berwick South, Stirling Avenue in Cranbourne, Victor Crescent in Narre Warren, Endeavour Hills Central, and Hampton Park North would finish operating on 31 December.
Cranbourne mother Kellie Gent is upset about the closure.
She has been taking her children to ABC Learning Centre on Stirling Avenue for eight years, starting with her oldest son Sebastian, then her middle child Benjamen, and now her youngest, three-year-old Harry.
“It’s disappointing,” she said. “Harry has made so many friends, now we will have to integrate him into another child centre. It’s stressful.”
Mrs Gent said she had been advised to enrol Harry at a centre at Lynbrook, which, she says, is too far to drive.
She has, meanwhile, placed Harry on a waiting list at a Cranbourne childcare centre, but says she will miss the staff at ABC.
“They have always been so good to us,” Mrs Gent said. “They have done a great job.”
The five ABC Learning Centres will join 50 others across Australia that will close at the end of December.
