A CRECHE director will brave the shaver in an effort to raise money for children with leukaemia.
As part of the Worlds Greatest Shave, 37-year-old director of ABC Narre Warren South Central Hana Matthews, will allow staff and children to help shave her locks on 12 March at 1pm.
“It’s going to be such a big difference. I have never had my hair so short,” Ms Matthews said. “I joke with my boyfriend that my hair is going to be as short as his, but he just laughs it off.”
A total of 21 other staff members will also take part in the excitement by dyeing their hair bright colours.
Another ABC employee Sandy English said she hoped Narre Warren residents share in the children’s enthusiasm and show their support.
“We have told all the older children about the day, and they are excited,” she said. “We have also let the parents know what’s going on, and sent out advertisements. So, hopefully we get a lot of people showing up on the day and making a big event out of it. We hope to raise $1500.”
Ms Matthews said she hoped the 105 families who use the crèche’s service will tell their friends and colleagues about the importance of the event in an effort to help fundraise for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“It’s an important cause, and we work with children every day, so we just want to help out where ever and how ever we can,” she said.
Anyone who wishes to donate money can do so at ABC Narre Warren South Central.
