Where there’s smoke

POLICE are calling for witnesses to a number of fires – possibly deliberately or carelessly lit – throughout the City of Casey.
Leading Senior Constable Cynthia Cameron told the News police were called to a fire along Olive Road in Devon Meadows on 15 February. There was no damage to any property.
A grass fire took hold along the fence line of Churchill National Park in Endeavour Hills on 14 February.
Police also attended a scrub fire at the Ernst Wanke Road off-ramp on 13 February. More than 10 metres of grass and scrub was alight and extinguished by the local CFA.
Investigators believe the fire was possibly caused by a discarded cigarette from a passing vehicle.
A fire scorched a fence along Raisell Road in Cranbourne West at about 8.30pm on 13 February.
