FIT students from Casey Central Secondary College were tested in speed, power and agility as they took part in the Nike Football Boot Camp.
The aim of the 27 February event was to promote movement, health and fitness in youth through sport in an effort to address the decline in participation rates and global obesity.
Health and wellbeing teacher Belinda Roff said the students worked hard during the camp, taking an interest in learning about the physical attributes soccer players have.
The budding athletes will take part in an eight-week soccer training program to improve their fitness levels and achieve improved scores for the final test next month.
“The overall boot camp was a success with all of the students keen to get started in their training programs,” she said.
“Programs like the Nike Football Boot Camp is one way in which Casey Central Secondary College is trying to improve the health, fitness and well-being of its students.”
One student, Marissa, said she was nervous about participating in the event. “I’m not exactly the sportiest person however I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to their next visit,” she said.
