A NARRE Warren South woman is gearing up to shave her long blonde locks for the World’s Greatest Shave.
Carmen Williams, who is taking part in the event for the first time, told the News she was excited about tomorrow’s (Friday) shave.
“I’m not nervous at all. If anything I’m looking forward to trying some new hair styles,” she said.
“My husband will shave it and says he’s looking forward to it because he’ll have more hair than me for once.”
The 24-year-old said taking part in the event was a personal challenge she always wanted to achieve.
“My parents taught me not to be a sheep but they never thought I’d end up being shorn like a sheep,” she laughed.
The World’s Greatest Shave is held each year to raise funds for patient care and research into finding a cure for leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related blood disorders.
Ms Williams is aiming to collect $1000 from her family, friends and work colleagues.
“People keep saying I’m brave but I have the choice about whether to shave my head or not,” she said.
“Some people don’t get that choice and are forced to. They are the brave ones.”
The World’s Greatest Shave runs from 12 to 14 March.
