MORE than 200 riders saddled up on horseback last weekend for the Riding of the Bounds event at Akoonah Park.
Riders of all ages and abilities took part in the 15km route through Berwick and Harkaway last Sunday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the annual event.
The event was not a competition ride, with all riders receiving a commemorative pin and certificate of participation and ribbon at the awards ceremony.
Mayfield Ward councillor Amanda Stapledon took part in the ride, which started at 10am.
The award winners were:
– Champion Rider – Hotspur Trophy: Kirsten Coad;
– Mayor’s Choice – King Robert The Bruce Trophy: Elspeth Field;
– Best Presented Group – Kay Irving Trophy: Nursery Rhyme Outfits Group;
– Best Horse Drawn Vehicle – Grace Darling Trophy: Alison Wallin and Heidi Cramer;
– Most Australian Rider – Ned Kelly Trophy: Michael Whitehead; and
– Best Western Turnout – Sir William Wallace Trophy: John Goy.
