EXCEPTIONAL Narre Warren firefighters were honoured for their work at the brigade’s annual awards presentation on 20 May.
After a minute’s silence to remember the victims of the Black Saturday bushfires, Region 8 operations manager Trevor Owen thanked the members and their families for their dedication to the community in the past year.
He presented 16 members with CFA Service Awards that collectively represented 185 years service to the Country Fire Authority.
Captain David Beards presented five-year service awards to Anthony Hawke and Michael Koevoets and 10-year service awards to Lieutenant Damien Baker and Sue Little.
Former captain Noel Collins was inducted into the esteemed list of Narre Warren Fire Brigade life members. Rhiannon Laporte won the Dorothy Balcome award in memory of a fallen brigade member from the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires, communications officer David Morgan received the Captain’s Award, and Michael Casnji was crowned Firefighter of the Year.
