THE ROTARY Club of Berwick and the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Foundation hosted the annual Bosom Buddies Ball last month.
More than 300 guests frocked up for the charity event at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne, with a cheque for $85,000 presented to the Burnet Institute.
The money raised will go directly to support the Burnet Institute’s research into developing a breast cancer vaccine that would become another weapon in fighting the disease.
According to the Burnet Institute, more than 2,800 Australian women will lose their lives this year to breast cancer and another 11,000 women will be told they now face their own personal battle with the disease.
Well-known Melbourne personality Denise Drysdale hosted the evening, and in keeping with the Diamonds are Forever theme she was joined by the glamorous 2009 Miss Universe Australia runner-up Jade Russell.
